Treatment activity:

During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 27,4 tons of spent fuel.
From all treated assemblies, a total of 476 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 15 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 14 in T7, vitrification facilities.
Since the beginning of the year, 422 canisters have been produced.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 30 canisters of compacted residues.
Since the beginning of the year, 508 canisters have been produced.

... the delivery of the 4 mox fuel elements fabricated by AREVA to the Catawba nuclear power plant (North-Carolina), and, authorization for the facility of the mox fuel fabrication plant in Savannah River (South-Carolina).

The COGEMA La Hague plant joining in the national week for sustainable development. A travelling stall will go and meet the employees explaining them the role everyone has in this field.

                                         

                                   
(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
