Treatment activity:

During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 29.5 tons of spent fuel. From all treated assemblies, a total of 573 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 10 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in T7, vitrification facility. Since the beginning of the year, 507 canisters have been produced in T7 and R7.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 40 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 645 canisters have been produced.

The plant 2004 environmental results have been laid out this week. Those show that both liquid and gazeous releases are below the limits set by regulatory authorities. For 2004, the plant impact on the reference group of people being the most exposed is approximatly of 0,01 mSv, representing 1/100e of the regulatory limit.

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
