Treatment activity :

During this period, 29 tons of spent fuel assemblies from french and german power plants have been processed on the site.

From all treated assemblies, a total of 249 tons have been processed to date this year.

This week 8 canisters of fission products(1) have been produced. Since the beginning of the year, 144 canisters have been produced.


Shipment activity :

A shipment of spent fuel assemblies from Germany arrived at the Valognes railway terminal the April 10th, at 9:15 am.

Works of disassembling of the old pipe of liquid releases are in progress...

Old pipe disassembling works, located between the fense of the site and the foot of cliff, are in progress in accordance with the program.
The results of measures performed in accordance with the specific programme of monitoring of the environment of the site are all lower than 1 becquerel per gramme.

The COGEMA's Information Point welcomes the public

Since April 5, the Information Point welcomes the public every days, Monday to Friday : 10 am - 6 pm, and, week-ends and public holidays : 1 - 7 pm. With a roundabout tour, it invites you to make fuller knowledge with the environment of La Hague and the policy of the Establishment to preserve it.


(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
