United States: AREVA TN Wins Contract for Used Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Canisters

10/15/2013
Press Release

AREVA TN has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to supply 46 NUHOMS® dry cask storage systems to a U.S. nuclear utility for the management of its used nuclear fuel.

This proven system used at more than half of the 104 U.S. nuclear plants meets a dual need: the transportation and storage of used nuclear fuel. Extremely robust, it features a stainless steel canister placed in a concrete module. This is the only storage system that has been licensed for all fuel produced by pressurized water reactors, boiling water reactors, and as well as Russian designs.

“The NUHOMS® system is a competitive solution for the safe and efficient management of used nuclear fuel. Its use by the majority of American nuclear power plants demonstrates confidence in our commitment to technological and operational excellence,” said Michael McMahon, president and CEO of AREVA TN in the United States.
