The “SaintéLyon”: AREVA back in the race!

News Brief

For the second year in a row, AREVA is sponsoring the 69-kilometer twilight race between Saint Etienne and Lyon, referred to simply as “SaintéLyon”, to be held December 5.

The race is open to anyone who wants to run, solo or in relay teams of 2 to 4 people. More than 10,000 runners are signed up for the 57th edition of the race, which starts in Saint Etienne from midnight to 2 am and ends up at the Gerland stadium in Lyon.

AREVA’s participation in this celebrated, atypical off-track race through the Rhône-Alps region, where our group has strong ties, is another facet of its diversity in track and field.

As official sponsor of the SaintéLyon 2010, AREVA is once again organizing events with competitors and their families this year.

In 2009, more than 75 employees took part in this one-of-a-kind race.

Why is AREVA sponsoring the SaintéLyon?
Why is AREVA sponsoring the SaintéLyon?

The group has deep roots in the Lyon region. AREVA is a key partner to local communities and private companies and plays a vital economic and social role in the region.

It has a strong presence in the Rhône-Alps region, with 4 employment areas, 10 industrial sites and more than 6,000 employees, including 1,500 in Lyon.

It was natural for AREVA to choose to support this historic race, which holds such a special place in foot races in France. Taking place at night, in winter, this unusual and demanding race is a great adventure for every competitor. SaintéLyon also supports environmental concerns, a commitment it shares with the AREVA group.
