Technical incident without consequences on a freight car loaded with used nuclear fuel

This afternoon, a freight car transporting used fuel from the Nogent nuclear power plant to the AREVA Valognes railway terminal was delayed in the Le Bourget switchyard.

One of its wheels came slightly off the rail without destabilizing the car. The shipping cask is intact and the technical incident had no impact on the environment.

AREVA informed the authorities and is working with the French railways SNCF to get the freight car on its way to destination within the next few hours.
