According to the contract signed between Swiss utilities and AREVA NC, and following intergovernmental agreements between France and Switzerland, part of the spent fuel from Swiss nuclear power plants is sent to France for reprocessing.
In accordance with these commitments, a shipment of one cask containing spent fuel has left the Swiss nuclear power plant of Gösgen on June 12th, 2006.
It could reach the TN International railway terminal located in Valognes from June 15th. This operation fully complies with national and international regulations.
