Organized by AREVA, the second International Nuclear Recycling day held on February 16, 2012 in Brussels and gathered around 200 attendees coming from 15 different countries.
This event was an opportunity to discuss solutions for used fuel recycling.
After a well documented feedback session on the Fukushima accident and its impact both on the Japanese economy and the nuclear industry in general, high-level speakers representing the European Commission, the universities of Oxford and Madrid, EDF, Rosatom, the OECD and the CEA could debate and share their vision about nuclear fuel recycling.
Recycling advantages have been highlighted, particularly in terms of de-congestion of reactor pools that are too often utilized for the long term storage of used fuel.
