Communiqué de presse

AREVA and VNIIAES1, a subsidiary of Russian State Corporation Rosatom, have signed a contract for the delivery of the TELEPERM XS safety Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems for one of the two new 1200 MWe VVER-type reactors to be built on the Novovoronezh-2 site. This contract is part of a general cooperation agreement signed in May 2009.

The TELEPERM XS systems will be delivered by AREVA into the Russian test center of VNIIAES end of 2010. The first unit of Novovoronezh-2, located south of Moscow, will be connected to the grid in 2012.

In 2008, AREVA signed a similar contract with VNIIAES for the delivery of a TELEPERM XS system in the frame of the modernization of the Kola nuclear power plant, situated in the far north of Russia.

TELEPERM XS is AREVA’s digital safety I&C system platform based on state-of-the-art hardware and software standards. The group has extensive experience in implementing safety I&C systems in VVER-type reactors. References include the two new VVER-type reactors in operation since four years in Tianwan, China, I&C modernization of the four units of the Paks nuclear power plant in Hungary as well as the Bohunice nuclear power plant in Slovakia.

“This contract demonstrates the confidence our customer has put in our nuclear safety solutions. It shows that AREVA is well positioned on the Russian market, on both I&C for new build and I&C modernization”, said Luc Oursel, President of AREVA NP.
