Preparation of the 6th MOX fuel maritime shipment to Japan

New AREVA is preparing the sixth shipment of MOX fuel from France to Japan. The MOX fuel was ordered by Japanese utility Kansai EPCO for unit 4 of the Takahama Nuclear Power Plant.

As agreed between all three governments (France, Japan and United Kingdom), the industrial side will implement a communication plan complying with both the need for transparency and, at the same time, obvious security constraints.

As follows :

- some days before actual departure: announcement of information related to the maritime shipment;

- after actual departure: announcement of maritime route and expected arrival date in Japan.

New AREVA and its partners have a longstanding experience in the transport of nuclear materials between Europe and Japan, in line with international regulations with the best safety and security records.
