Early March, an important milestone for the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) internals was reached at the Olkiluoto 3 EPR™ project. After being introduced in the reactor building, the reactor upper internals were lifted down into the RPV to complete the last major introduction of the RPV internals.
The upper internals are critical equipments to support, protect and guide core components (Fuel Assemblies, Control Rod Guide Assemblies, core instrumentation).
Following the gap measurements check, the upper internals will be transferred to a storage zone during the pool leak test, and then reintroduced into the RPV to complete the installation of the vibration monitoring device.
