A significant milestone was achieved on Wednesday May 16, 2018 in the frame of the OL3 Hot Functional Tests when for the first time steam generated in the primary circuit was sent to the turbine.
The turbine has been run up to its nominal speed of 1500 revolutions per minute (rpm), which is the required speed for the plant normal operation. The tests demonstrated the good and smooth interface in between both Nuclear and Turbine Islands which were operated together as per normal operating conditions.
The Hot Functional Tests started in December 2017, are conducted without core, the normal operating conditions (303°C and 154 barg) and necessary energy to perform the tests were obtained by operating the 4 Reactor Coolant Pumps.
