Brief
Following an article in Nihon Keizai Shinbun indicating that the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan (AEC) was considering abandoning commercial development of fast breeder reactors (FBR), the entities involved - AEC, JNC and FEPC - strongly denied the report.
The FEPC, the federation of Japanese utilities, stated that its members are not opposed to commercial FBR development. The AEC also indicated that it never decided to shut down the FBR program.
