IRSN, the French institute of radiation protection and nuclear safety (Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire) has just published a report containing an inventory of the uranium mines operated in France from 1945 to 2001, when the last site was closed.
The inventory completes the first phase of the Mimausa program to identify and assess the impact of uranium mines launched in 2003 and carried out with COGEMA’s assistance.
