Treatment activity :

During this period, 46 tons of spent fuel assemblies from EDF power plants have been processed on the site.

From all treated assemblies, a total of 430 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 15 canisters of fission products(2) have been produced. Since the beginning of the year, 223 canisters have been produced.

Since the beginning of the year, the facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 238 canisters of compacted residues(3)

Shipment activity :

The Pacific Swan, carrying six casks containing 144 canisters of vitrified residues back to Japan, has left Cherbourg – France - yesterday at  20H25 local time.  The actuality, it is also…
National week of the sustainable development: COGEMA  La Hague  is mobilized.

The firm organizes from June 5 to June 13 an event on the theme of the sustainable development, named "Today for tomorrow".
Dedicated to the whole personnel, COGEMA employees and providers, "Today for tomorrow" lies within the scope of the national week of the sustainable development. Thanks to this event, COGEMA wishes to inform, mobilize and sensitize staff on stakes of the sustainable development and the engagement of the group in this step in its three dimensions: economical, social and environmental.

(1) Because of the public holidays, "Weekly report" relates exceptionally to two weeks.
(2)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
(3)It is about the metal envelope of the spent fuel assemblies as well as metal waste resulting from maintenance operations of the installations.
