Treatment activity :
During this period, the Establishment treated (1) 8.7 tons of spent fuel assemblies from a batch of BRUNSBUTTEL fuel (BWR). From all treated assemblies, a total of 241.3 tons have been processed to date this year. Three of the six lines of vitrification of fission products were in service.
Since the beginning of the year, 124 canisters have been produced. Shipment activity : A shipment containing two TN12/2 casks of 24 spent fuel assemblies coming from german power plant of Mülheim-Karlich (PWR 900 MWe) arrived on April 23 at 12:55 pm at the railway terminal of Valognes.
The actuality, it is also... April 19, the Establishment started the plutonium purification and conversion facility R4.
(1)the Treatment consists in separating, within spent fuel, on the one hand, the reusable materials - uranium and plutonium - in order to recycle them and, on the other hand, the ultimate residues - fission products and other waste - in order to condition them in a sure way.
