AREVA signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with 20 Finnish key suppliers*. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the French Ambassador to Finland, Eric Lebédel. This agreement strengthens AREVA’s commitment to utilize local industrial and nuclear expertise in its projects in Finland as well as abroad.
With already more than 300 Finnish companies qualified as AREVA subcontractors, this network of industrial partners is one of the largest in Europe for AREVA. “Our group actively pursues its strategy for the localization of its supplier network, already established through the construction of the Olkiluoto 3 EPR™ reactor. Companies in Finland are highly qualified and respond, in particular, to our very stringent safety requirements” declared Philippe Knoche, AREVA’s Chief Operating Officer.
More than 100 Finnish suppliers work on the ongoing Olkiluoto 3 EPR™ project, with no less than 40 in the safety-related scope. Approximately 70 percent of the scope of work for such a nuclear power plant project is available for procurement by local companies.
