Departure of the fourteenth transport of vitrified waste from France to Belgium

The fourteenth transport of vitrified nuclear waste from France to Belgium, announced by AREVA NC on March 29, left the TN International railway terminal in Valognes (France) today at 12:07 pm. Its arrival in Belgium is expected as from April 3, 2007.

At the Mol (Belgium) train station, the cask containing 27 canisters of vitrified waste will be loaded on a special-purpose vehicle and transported to the BELGOPROCESS storage site in Dessel.

The cask used for transport fully complies with the very strict standards defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Nuclear material transportation meets national and international regulations in order to guarantee a high level of safety.
