Press release
On Thursday, August 21, a defect on a pipeline was found at the Comurhex-Perrelatte site. The discovery came during renovation work on the site’s effluent system, in connection with the construction of a new uranium conversion plant. Small quantities of uranium pass through the pipeline, which is used only occasionally. Because the flow through the pipline is very low and irregular, only slight quantities of uranium are involved – about 250 grams per year – and there is no risk for employees.
The nuclear safety authority was informed and an assessment is ongoing to determine the impact, if any, on the environment.
