In order to maintain financial transparency, AREVA would like to clarify that recent press coverage on the costs of dismantling the UP2-400 processing plant does not contain any new information.
Estimations corresponding to the plant dismantling, waste processing and recovery remain around 4 billion euros, as announced until now. These estimates, which are updated yearly, have not been revised significantly since 2010.
The provisional costs for end-of-lifecycle obligations are duly assessed and budgeted for in the group’s consolidated financial statements for all its nuclear facilities under the scope of the French law of June 28, 2006 and are covered by a dedicated portfolio of assets earmarked for end-of-lifecycle operations.
These provisions are subject to validation by the governing bodies of AREVA and are audited by the statutory auditors. AREVA also responds to any queries on the subject from the competent administrative authorities, including the Cour des Comptes [French Court of Audit].
