News brief
On March 22, during his travels in conjunction with the second round of legislative elections, François Bozizé, President of the Central African Republic, made a stop at the Bakouma site to see how the project was progressing.
After looking over the fleet of heavy mining vehicles, Mr. Bozizé was presented with uranium samples from the PATRICIA deposit as well as a map of the pilot pit. He was also given information about the next steps in the project to tap the site’s resources.
Before leaving, Mr. Bozizé addressed the AREVA teams working at the Bakouma site. He conveyed his country’s desire to see mining begin. This is indeed a significant aid to development by providing several hundred jobs and substantial income to the country and the region.
