Britain's draft energy policy deemed unrealistic without nuclear

Brief
In a report published 30 August, the Royal Academy of Engineering calls the Performance and Innovation Unit's proposed energy policy "unrealistic". According to the report, the February draft of the policy gives entirely too much weight to renewable energies and disregards the uncertainties of future natural gas supplies. The Academy is urging the government to support nuclear power by establishing conditions for its renewal.
