A campaign processing spent fuel EDF is underway.

Since the beginning of the year, 380 tons have been processed for recycling.

• In the vitrification facilities 55 canisters of vitrified fission products(1) have been produced. 
  
         Since the beginning of the year, 130 canisters have been produced.


• The facility of hulls compaction produced 141 canisters of compacted residues.
  
         Since the beginning of the year, 435 canisters have been produced. 

The actuality is also...

The 2nd return of waste compacted towards Switzerland.
To date, 18 % of the Swiss metallic waste were returned towards this country.

 
(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
