In the immediate wake of the disaster that hit Southern Asia on December 26, AREVA decided to offer its support to a project led by CARE International in Indonesia, a country in which the group is present. The association has been operating in Indonesia for over 30 years, and already counted AREVA among its supporters.
Our donation of €150,000 - which is subject to increase should the need arise - will help provide emergency kits for the survivors of the disaster, including tents, food aid and water purification equipment. The action carried out by CARE International is being focused on the Aceh Province. Thanks to this aid, 500,000 people will be given support for six months.
In parallel, the AREVA Transmission & Distribution division has already offered to donate a distribution substation to get the power network back up and running.
