AREVA Recognized for “Engineering Project of the Year” at the 2011 Platts Global Energy Awards

PARIS, FRANCE, DECEMBER 2, 2011 – The installation of AREVA’s TELEPERM® XS has won the prestigious "Engineering Project of the Year" award at the 13th annual Platts Global Energy Awards held in New York City.

The June installation of AREVA’s TELEPERM® XS is the first comprehensive application of a safety-related Digital Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Reactor Protection System in the United States. The system enables state-of-the-art digital processing of functions for the Reactor Protection System (RPS) and the Engineered Safeguards Protection System (ESPS).

Established in 1999 and often described as "the Oscars" of the energy industry, Platts Global Energy Awards showcase extraordinary accomplishments by energy businesses and individuals worldwide. The winners for each of the 19 categories exemplify the spirit of innovation and an enduring commitment to employees, customers, shareholders, the environment and the energy industry as a whole.
