News brief

The AREVA group is taking part in the year of Brazil in France baptized "Brésil, Brésils". The large-scale operation marks the willingness of the French and Brazilian governments to reinforce the historic links between the two countries.

The French will be able to discover the many facets of Brazilian culture through more than 300 events: cultural and contemporary art exhibitions, shows, concerts, films and events of all kinds will be held throughout the year 2005.

AREVA, which is part of the patronage committee for the year of Brazil in France, has opted to sponsor the opening exhibition at the Galeries du Grand Palais (Paris, France): "Brésil Indien. Les Arts des Amérindiens du Brésil" (Indian Brazil. Amerindian art in Brazil).

The exhibition, running from March 23 to June 27, 2005, will allow visitors to discover Brazil's rich cultural heritage through a series of exhibits focusing on the artistic, ethnological and ecological aspects of Brazil's indigenous populations from prehistoric times to the present day. The exhibition will also bring greater awareness as regards biodiversity and climate change, two major issues for AREVA.

"Brésil Indien" is the opportunity for AREVA to promote the culture of Brazil, country in which the group has been present for over twenty years through its subsidiaries. Cultural exchanges between our two countries mark the continuity of our industrial partnership.
