AREVA Inc. has safely and successfully delivered a new reactor vessel closure head to Ameren Missouri’s Callaway Energy Center. Measuring 30 feet tall and weighing 180 tons, this component and the integrated head assembly took five years to manufacture and arrived at the facility in Callaway County, Mo., following a five-week journey.
“With this equipment, Ameren is making an important investment in American energy security and the Callaway facility’s sustained supply of nuclear power,” said George Beam, senior vice president of Reactors and Services, Installed Base, AREVA Inc. “We are proud to support Ameren with the on-time delivery of this high-quality equipment.”
“The investments we are making at Callaway will help maintain reliability and provide cleaner energy for our customers for the next 20 years,” said Fadi Diya, Ameren senior vice president and chief nuclear officer. “This is important to ensure that we continue generating affordable and low-carbon electricity for our customers.”
