With APFEE, an association that promotes equal opportunity in the schools, and its “Coup de pouce clé” program (crucial boost), the AREVA Corporate Foundation has been helping to reduce the risk of early academic failure and preventing illiteracy since 2010.
The “Coup de pouce clé” program for first-graders with reading difficulties or at risk of failing in school helps them get over the sometimes difficult hurdle of learning how to read and write. It also introduces them to the pleasure of reading and cultivates their taste for it.
As of the end of the 2014/2015 school year, the AREVA Foundation had helped train 75 program leaders and provided support for 265 children in 53 “Coups de pouce clé” clubs close to our office and plant sites in the cities of Cherbourg, Le Havre, Lyon, Vaulx-en-Velin, Villeurbanne, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Nîmes, Montélimar, Romans and Avignon.
Before breaking for the summer, the children and their parents received special recognition at a town hall “graduation” ceremony, where they received diplomas for completing the program.
