decorativeIn partnership with the Rhône-Alpes Diversity Club, news publication Le Progrès de Lyon held the second “Diversity Action Trophies” on May 25, 2010. This event awards men and women whose career, actions or generosity have fostered diversity.

Secretary of State for Sports Rama Yade and Jeanne Bougrab, head of Halde, the French equal opportunities and anti-discrimination commission, attended the awards ceremony.

AREVA regional head of Diversity and Equal Opportunities Geneviève Guénassia handed over the Corporate Social Responsibility trophy to the representative of RAPP (Rencontre à Petits Pas), a student association at French engineering university INSA in Lyon. RAPP works with community centers and other associations in the greater Lyon area to create social bonds with young people with problems in order to combat their exclusion. For the past few years, 40 INSA students have been giving remedial instruction to pupils from primary through high school.

AREVA’s Diversity and Equal Opportunities department and the AREVA-Lyon Communication department decided to join in the event. The philosophy behind the initiative is consistent with AREVA values and the group’s diversity actions over recent years. As Philippe Thurat, head of the AREVA Diversity and Equal Opportunities department says, “The fact that we received the Diversity label in recent weeks made it all the more clear that we should participate this year. It provided an opportunity to illustrate how AREVA integrates into regional diversity activities.”
