AREVA & the Global Compact- Communication on progress 2008

7/30/2009
News brief

For AREVA, economic performance only makes sense when it serves a specific action in favour of sustainable development. In the same spirit, AREVA subscribed to the Global Compact in 2003. The Global Compact encourages companies, United nation organisations, civil society, labour to work together on ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

To demonstrate the companies’ commitment to the Global Compact and its principles, each signatory company commits to:

  • communicating every year on progress made in implementing the ten principles in its strategy and activities,
  • encouraging cooperation between main stakeholders and promoting partnerships based on UN objectives.

The Report on responsible growth 2008 accounts on the group’s objectives and its progress. "AREVA Communication on Progress 2008" gives the 2008 actions directly related to the ten global compact principles.

Anne Lauvergeon, AREVA Chief Executive Officer and Global Compact board member declares: "this year's Communication on Progress and the actions that are described in the document are firmly committed to a responsible growth strategy and a sustainable development."
