11/7/2011
 Brief

A ceremony marking the re-industrialization of the SICN site at Annecy was held on October 21, 2011 in the presence of all stakeholders. SICN, located in the very heart of the city, has carried, through a comprehensive program of cleanup and dismantling of its premises destined for industrial redeployment following the cessation of its nuclear activities.

After several years of works, conceived in consultation with local authorities, the site is now available for new activities. Dismantling operations were conducted in a strict regulatory framework defined by prefectural orders under the supervision off the Regional Department for the Environment, Town & Country Planning and Housing.

The city of Annecy has granted a service mandate to the company IDEX, for the construction of a biomass boiled facility capable of providing lower cost and lower carbon heating. The urban heating facility will use 85% wood fuel, and will reduce greenhouse gas emission by 85%.

A genuine success saluted on this occasion by all the stakeholders involved in the project.
