3N Symposium 2013: AREVA gathers the world’s largest nuclear utilities in Lyon, France

3/19/2013

The tenth New Nuclear Needs Symposium (3N Symposium) organized by AREVA attracted 130 participants from 23 countries across the world and representing the world’s largest nuclear utilities to Lyon, France, between March 12-15.

Providing a unique forum to discuss both installed base challenges and new reactors, 3N also gave attendees the opportunity to increase cooperation on nuclear safety post-Fukushima.

During the symposium AREVA representatives presented the Safety Alliance program to the participants. This initiative combines all of the group’s technology solutions for safe nuclear facilities and their operations.

This year 3N also included tours of three major AREVA sites: the Chalon Saint-Marcel plant (reactor heavy components), the EDF-AREVA CETIC (training for reactor maintenance and response personnel) and the Romans plant (nuclear fuel fabrication).

As AREVA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tarik Choho, said to the gathering, “This year’s 3N has seen discussions intensify between industrial players on the issue of safety and the search for even greater safety enhancements. This spirit of cooperation and continuous improvement is the bedrock of our relations with our customers.”
