Laparoscopy equipment funded by AREVA Foundation was officially turned over to the medical teams at Sainshand Hospital in Dornogovi Province, Mongolia.

This cutting-edge equipment will be used by the hospital’s surgery and gynecology departments to perform operations.

Training in the use of the equipment for local surgeons has begun, led by Dr. Lagoutte, a French digestive surgeon who has been deeply involved in the development of laparoscopy in Mongolia in recent years and is recognized as such by the Mongolian Institute of Medical Sciences.

“I am very pleased by this Franco-Mongolian cooperation. I hope that laparoscopy will continue to develop in all of the provinces. In surgery, equipment isn’t everything – training is extremely important. I’m very pleased to come to these training sessions due to the interest the surgeons have in it but also the extremely warm welcome I always receive.”

The donation of this equipment is part of a new AREVA Foundation project conducted with the Actions Mongolie association. It made it possible for the association to give a coelioscopic endoscope to the Shastin Hospital in Ulan Bator in 2010.
