France: Guimet Museum

Children in Nanterre, Sartrouville, and Paris come to visit the Miusée Guimet

AREVA Foundation partners with the Musée Guimet by supporting educational activities for people not normally attracted to cultural programs: activities for families, sessions to educate social workers on specific topics such as India, Cambodia, the Himalayas, the silk routes… and an educational brochure distributed to the directors of social organizations to help them prepare and organize independent visits to the museum with their groups.

Every year about 200 social workers are trained to come back with their groups for visit and more than 1 000 people discover the museum for the first time.

Armed with the success of these activities and their impact in terms of opening the museum to a wider public, AREVA Foundation sought to extend its support by signing a new agreement covering 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.

In 2015, AREVA corporate Foundation funded:

-  awareness training sessions for social workers, introducing people to Buddhism, to an active approach to understanding the museum’s collections, to dance and the performing arts, and others. This training led to some forty independent guided tours by social workers.

- workshops for families, in particular concerning  “Splendeur des Han, essor de l’empire celeste” exhibition.
