CNNC’s choice constitutes recognition of the group’s technological expertise in the back end of the cycle and the know-how developed at our sites.

In fact, the future Chinese plant would be based on the technologies developed at our reference sites of La Hague and MELOX. These technologies are backed by more than 20 years of operating experience and process improvements to make the nuclear facilities even safer and more reliable.

The plant would treat used nuclear fuel from Chinese power plants to recover valuable materials and recycle them in the form of fresh fuel. It would have a treatment capacity of 800 metric tons of used fuel per year. The decision to recycle ensures responsible management of natural resources and final waste while also contributing to non-proliferation.
