News brief

AREVA has launched a new website dedicated to Finland which supports its commitment to the country’s energy market developments.

This site, with dedicated content in Finnish, provides visitors an opportunity to learn more about AREVA’s activities and advanced EPR™ technology, as well as updates and news on AREVA’s activities in Finland.

As a country with scarce natural resources that imports up to 70% of its energy, more than 27% of the electricity consumed in Finland comes from nuclear energy produced by its four reactors. In order to limit the need for fossil fuel imports, Finland launched a new nuclear program in 2002.

Virginie Moucquot-Laiho, vice country manager and head of communicationsAREVA Finland, declared:

“We are happy to provide to our clients a Finnish website devoted to AREVA’s offer to support Finland with its nuclear program. This will provide more accessible information on AREVA and the EPR™ technology to the general public and stakeholders interested by our offer and activities in Finland.”

AREVA is the leader of the consortium and is currently building a III + generation EPR™ reactor at the Olkiluoto 3 site. In 2012, the group also submitted an offer for the construction of an EPR™ reactor to Fennovoima for the proposed site in Pyhäjoki, North Ostrobotnia, and is also preparing to answer the bid launched by TVO for the construction of a second power plant at Olkiluoto (OL4).
