Saudi Arabia: AREVA and EDF further engage with local industry leaders to support Saudi energy projects

10/1/2013

French companies AREVA and EDF today held the second joint ‘Suppliers’ Day’ in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. These Suppliers’ Days’ events are important in that they facilitate meetings with local key business and industry representatives, who wish to participate in the energy program proposed by King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE).

More than 150 participants from 73 local companies attended the event, including a K.A.CARE official, the French Ambassador to Riyadh, a Jeddah Chamber of Commerce representative, and several senior executives from both AREVA and EDF.

Tarik Choho, AREVA Chief Commercial Executive Officer, commented: “This Suppliers’ Day event marks yet another significant step forward in our localization strategy and the identification of key industrial players in Saudi Arabia. It also demonstrates our commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitious strategy for sustainable energy."

Valerie Levkov, EDF added: “Having the opportunity to exchange today with local industrial players and potential partners who wish to participate in the Saudi energy program is essential in ensuring the quality and safety of future nuclear installations over the long term.”
